Blood Sugar Regulation

Blood Sugar Regulation

Americans are inundating their bodies with sugar and refined carbohydrates. The average man, woman, and child consumes at least 140 pounds of refined sugar in a year. Never before in the history of mankind have we had an emergency need to lower blood sugar. Low blood sugar is an emergency of historic proportions, and consequently our bodies produce at least six distinct hormones to bring more sugar into our bloodstream when energy is needed to run away from a lion or have a fight with our boss. On the other hand, we have one hormone to bring sugar out of the blood and into cells where it can be stored. What is this poor lonely hormone forced to take on the brunt of Americans’ grossly unnatural high-sugar diets? Yes, it is insulin. And where is insulin produced? In the pancreas.

The primary organs that regulate blood sugar are the pancreas, liver, and adrenal glands. A diet that is not nutrient-dense, and is full of improperly prepared sugar and carbohydrates in foods such as pasteurized fruit juices, white sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and even skim milk, puts a big strain on all three of these organs to keep our bodies alive.

Burning simple sugars for fuel is addictive and debilitating to the body. We crave it even after we’ve just eaten a big meal. We must constantly intake sugar, which uses up important vitamins and minerals along with insulin to metabolize our food. The body becomes unable to use fats and protein as sources of energy, and unable to break down even more complex carbohydrates.

I developed my Freedom of Health™ programs to break this vicious sugar-burning cycle and help you to transition into a nutrient-dense whole food diet which brings myriad health benefits.
